The Castle Arms and Johnston Terrace |
The Castle Arms lies near the upper end of Johnston Terrace, enjoying superb views up to
the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle.

Until fairly recently it was known as the Castle Bar Cafe and the exterior painted an
overall light blue. It has to be said that the red and cream paint job you find today is a major
improvement, as is the decision to be bold about being a pub rather than trying to be a little of
everything as it did before.
 Interior from the Rear |
Interior from the Front Door |
Internally you find an attractive bar, that stretches through to the windows of the
slightly raised area at the rear of the Castle Arms. Accessed from a small upstairs bar is a
terrace used for outdoor seating in Summer. This offers stunning high level views over West Bow and
the Old Town.
